Surprisingly, I had an easier time working out back when I was pregnant than I'm having now. For some reason, I thought as soon as I had the baby, I'd no longer be short-winded or suffer an achy lower back. And of course, without a baby bump, you'd think it would be infinitely easier to move around easier. Not so!
Despite my best intentions, I've found that I just can't go back to my regular routine. No longer can I go for a run and exercise six days a week. So, where do I go from here? I decided to start from scratch and reassess my level of activity. With the help of the Best Life Activity Scale (a six-level scale that tracks the amount of aerobic and strength training activity you do), I was able to put aside my initial frustration, pick a new starting point and make a plan to work my way back up to where I was. The Activity Levels are like a road map; I know how many minutes and days I need to exercise or how many steps I need to log to meet my activity level. A stress-free and totally do-able plan that will help me get back in shape—I'm in!
